Two beeps means it worked. One long beep just means it recognizes the cancel button being held. You have to hold it longer.

It's not a rice cooker, arguably more sophisticated pressure control system than any rice cooker out there. The reset is standard for anything that remembers the user's settings though.
random tangent but does any of elses IP have a chemical smell when you run it dry to test? mine still has a weird smell after a year of use, having cleaned the machine twice.
