because some people want to wake up to coffee already brewed? thats literally the whole point of the programmable feature
my 49978 dual follows the sequence in the OPs post. Press start, hour blinks, adjust hour, wait, minute blinks, adjust to desired coffee time, wait for brew cycle to start. Took me two tries the first time.
same with my dual years ago (forgot the model). Hamilton beach hasn't changed how the clock on these machines works in a while though.
does the auto brew time get wiped if you lose power to the machine? does it save that separately from the clock setting? if i set it to brew at 6am but then lose power to the coffee maker, would i have to reprogram the clock AND the auto brew time?

both get wiped. No battery backup for these machines. I looked into replacing the battery once when the clock was set to brew coffee but the power went out.

no battery backup on a $60 coffee maker. My $15 alarm clock from 1998 had a 9v battery backup. Priorities.

they cut every corner on these machines. They use the same pump in 5 different price range coffee makers. The clock circuit is made of a few cents of silicon that they could add a coin cell for $0.30 more but they dont. Its all margin.

to be fair, the coin cell, holder and adjustment to the brew machine would add more like a buck fifty. Still cheap but not $0.30.
my flexbrew clock died after about 4 years. Display doesnt show time but brews ok. Ive been using it without the clock for 2 years now and its fine.

that's just the display driver. Ive seen a few of these. Solder joint on the control board (if you wanna get in there with an iron) is bad.

would be the solder joints or the IC itself? if it were me im curious if its worth opening the machine up.

would be the solder joints. Ive fixed a few of these for friends. 2 of them involved resoldering the joints. The third was the IC and that one was a throw away.
