DeLonghi infuser stuck when machine is killed at the main switch?

Another instance when the brew group got jammed and would not budge. The only thing that worked was to open the machine up and manually rotate the brew group back to its home position. It was tight on the side gears so I had to use the socket wrench to rotate. Took about 20 minutes total from opening the machine to the brew group being able to move again. Did a descaling cycle afterwards to prevent any more jams so far the brew group has been in great working order for the past 8 months.

wait can you manually rotate the brew group drive shaft with a socket wrench? what size?

7mm iirc, but double check on your machine model. Also ensure you dont force it if you feel resistance in the brew group as you may strip the plastic gears.

this is the move that people should use when the brew group infuser gets stuck and cant be released. Its the best way to get it back into place instead of trying to pry it.

For what its worth the rinse cycle on the magnifica s takes about 15 seconds to complete at startup then another 10 or so at shutdown. The 10 second cycle is the important one since it returns the brew group to its home position. The cycle at startup does not.

so if i hit the power button and walk away before the rinse cycle completes i could potentially be in the same spot as before?

Always end up having to defend the design of the delonghi machines. The back button should trigger the park routine for the brew group prior to cutting the power. It would of been a 5 cent firmware update that would save delonghis from adding yet another unnecessary complex control panel to their coffee makers.

no it wouldnt. The back switch is a mechanical switch and there is no firmware involved. Its a physical disconnect from the power supply.
