Had this come up in a couple different forum for Samsung microwaves. It's either the latch hooks or the switches behind them. The latch hook spring tend to wear out with time. The other possibility is the door switch tell the microwave that the door is closed.
I'm guessing that the latch hook spring will fail first on Samsung microwave. I would imagine that those who encounters the issue will replace the door switch since the microwave will not start even if the door is indeed closed. What do those who have replaced a few of these Samsung microwaves thinks is the most common cause of this type of issue?

Latch hooks. 100%. I've done a dozen Samsung microwaves in the past few years and the plastic hook that go with the spring always fails on these Samsung microwaves. Its cheap though, only $8 usual.

wait so if the hook is broken would the door still feel like it close normally or would you notice it being floppy? mine closes fine but wont start

If the hook tip is chipped you wont know from feel (door will close fine). If the door feels floppy its the spring. If it feels normal but wont start its the hook or switch.

samsung microwaves are garbage anyway, replace it with a panasonic and never think about it again

Having worked appliance repair for 11 years the answer is neither, its the monitor switch about 40% of the time. People always blame the primary and secondary interlock but its the monitor switch that fails closed and trips the fuse causing the microwave to not start. When you replace the switch the microwave will run for 30 seconds, trip the fuse and the customer think you broke it. Always replace all three switches and the thermal fuse as a kit, never separate. When you go to replace a microwave interlock switch its for the love of god to discharge the HV cap before you stick your hand in there.
