Samsung microwave clock blank, is it just Eco Mode kicking in?

A few peoples has asked about this in the past. When you have a Samsung microwave and the clock read nothing, it isnt the board, not the display. It's just Eco Mode. Turn that off and the clock will come back on.
Makes sense, right? Saves powers when the microwave isnt being used. But why would anyone turn this on? Probably accidental when buying the appliance. Or, maybe it comes on factory default. Either way, it's a total normal issue and resolution. No error code, no fault finding, just flip the setting and go about your day.
Have any of you encountered someone thinking their microwave is broken when it's just this setting? Should be much more obvious in the manual... ? Are there downsides to leaving this off all the time besides the negligible standby power draw from the clock?

My mother in law called and said her microwave are broken. I drove 40 minutes to see it. After 5 minutes of press buttons to see what was wrong, I found out it was Eco Mode. She was adamant it was broken and had already gone on Amazon to look at replacement for it. Lol

The standby draw on these Samsung microwave is actualy quite low. I’d figure out the clock use 1-2 watts. So leaving Eco Mode off will only cost you a couple dollars a year. Not worth the potential confusion it can cause for the user.

Does this same issue apply to the over the range model as well or just the countertop microwaves? Mine is an ME21 something model and I’m not sure if it have Eco Mode.

For the past 11 years I worked in appliance repair. I’ve seen how many times this same issue has occur. People will bring in their microwave and say the board is dead. I arrive at the location, press the button for 3 seconds (or whatever) and the clock will come back on. People feel stupid but I’ll charge them for the trip. Once I had a lady get mad at me by telling me it was my fault that the Samsung made their microwave with Eco Mode. Another guy had ordered a replacement control board off of eBay for $80. I’ll take that $80 back when they come in to fix it. The manual does a poor job of explaining this in the booklet. It’s in a power saving section in the manual that people dont reads.
