Standing time has not been used much in my kitchen, my mother taught me that for foods like pizza, lasagna, or anything that contained frozen ingredients it was a good idea to allow for an additional 1 minute standing time. It makes a huge difference in the texture of the food. No relation to the buttons though.

Sensor cook models lockout the duration of cooking since the sensor controls the cooking time. Standing time can still be entered though, simply push the Time/Clock button and set the desired duration prior to pressing start. At least this is how it works on my NN-SN966.

Yes but after the sensor button, otherwise the sensor will override the cooking time you set.
All of the models I have encountered with Panasonic use the same button sequence for these three different functions. I have worked on about 30 different models for various customers over the years and the button sequences for these three functions has remained the same. The only difference is the labels for the buttons... Some models use Time and others use Kitchen Timer.

Because the older models had a separate clock button, hence Time/Clock. The newer models have split the button into two separate buttons, hence Kitchen Timer. Not an inconsistency but a product of the evolution of the models.
