Saw this in a few different threads so figured I’d ask here since people seems to know about the NordicTrack stuff. When you press the button the fan beep but does not spin. The other issue is that the fan will run for a few seconds then automatically turn its self off.
This seem to be a common issue with a few of the treadmill models. For this fan issue, is it typically the console/board, the fan motor itself or the wiring/connector?
The auto shutdown after a few seconds makes me to think either the safety cutoff or that the board has pick up a fault.
If it were me, what would be the order of things to check before starting to replace parts?
Seems like the console would be the first place to check for a loose connector.

9 times out of 10 its the connector behind the console. They use these little white JST style plug and the pins back out from vibration. Pop the console off, reseat everything, done.

the auto shutoff after a couple seconds is classic stall detection. Board pulses the motor, doesnt see the expected current draw or hall feedback, kills it. So yeah youre on the right track guessing safety cutoff.

Mine was the fan motor itself. Bearings seized up when the treadmill was sitting idle. It drew too much current when it started up which caused the board to cut it. Treadmill otherwise ran fine otherwise but the fan would not spin. Bought a new one for like 30 bucks off ebay.

I worked on probably 20 of these over the years. The fan connector is a common issue but the one people overstate. The most common failure I see is the fan driver mosfet on the console board. Usually when I look at the board the mosfet will be slightly burnt or continuity will show when it should be open gate to source. Replaced a few of these with a generic equivalent and the boards came back from the dead. Icon does not sell these parts so if you want to fix the board youll have to buy a new console for around 300 bucks which is insane for a fan motor circuit. The other thing to check is the ribbon cable from the keypad to the console its possible that one of these crack at the fold which would also cause the fan to stop without any relation to the buttons being pressed on the console.
