Kitchen Mama can opener stops working, what's the usual fix?

so theoretically printing a replacement gear out of something like nylon or pom should outlast the original plastic gear? Have anyone tried this?

or just buy a manual one for 5 bucks and stop fiddling around with the batteries forever
