Several folks has asked about the Kitchen Mama electric can openers acting up lately. Thought I'd start a thread on the subject since I see it as relatively common. The troubleshooting is fairly short but I'm interested to see if anyone else went deeper into the troubleshooting than just a basics.
Try swapping the 4 AA batteries in the opener. Weak batteries will cause the opener to stall. If that fixes the problem, great. Otherwise, pop the cover on the can opener and inspect the gears for any stripped gear. Most issues is with these component. Try plugging the motor directly into 4 AA batteries to see if it works. If not the motor is broken. Otherwise check the on/off switch to make sure it is functioning proper.
The gear issue on these is common since they are cheap product. Stripped gears are the most common failure after the batteries. Is it possible the motor just gets worn out over time as well?
