Energy saving mode toggle on De'Longhi machines, how does it actually work?

The Eletta Explore which I purchased recently use the touchscreen interface for the energy saving mode. I just have to go into the settings menu and toggle the energy saving mode on or off. No button combinations necessary. So yeah, it’s model dependant.

A lot of people forget that the main switch on the back of the machine has to be on for the buttons in the front to work. I spent 10 minutes trying to get the machine to recognize my pressed buttons before I realized the main switch was off.
