A few peoples have mentioned using an Aroma cooker for lentils instead of rice. It seem simple enough if it works. From what I can find, the ratio is 1 cup lentil to 2.5 cups of water, rinse the lentils and run the white rice program for 50 minutes which should be more same as boiling the lentils on the stove.
The question is, does the white rice program allow the lentils to fully cook through? I would think not because rice cookers will shut off based on temperature rather than a timer once the rice has absorbed the water. Thus the 2.5 cup ratio of water would be main factor in allowing the lentils to cook through.
I would think that this would work best with the smaller lentils such as red lentils or split lentils. I found this very annoying that an article did not specify the variety of lentil as to what type was used. Have any of you tried cooking lentils in Aroma cooker using the white rice setting? Did you have to run it twice to cook the lentils through?
