Ninja Blast charging issue, anyone swapped the 18650 pack?

spot welder is overkill for this. Pre-tabbed 18650 cells can be had on aliexpress for around 8 bucks shipped so just solder the tabs on the cells rather than the can.

pre-tabbed cells are fine but the tabs that come pre-welded to the cells are usually thin garbage steel that is just nickel plated. For blending application proper pure nickel strip is preferred.

its a blender not a power tool. Its not that much current.

motor is around 5-7a when stalled on lots of frozen fruit though.
opened mine up last month. Confirmed bms is on the same board as the usb port and the cells are held in a plastic cradle with double sided tape. Comes apart with a spudger going around the seam. Four plastic clips to pop, no screws on this model.

broke one of the four plastic clips. Will snap back into place when pushed in but other three hold it in.
i work on ebike battery packs for a living so seeing people take the time to do this is wild lmao. Respect to the people that put in the time and effort. The same principles are used but for a smaller scale application. Proper cell matching, nickel strip, spot weld, decent bms. If people treated these pack like e-bike packs they’d last years. Never solder to the 18650 can with heat otherwise it damages the seal and you get a leaky battery.

sunkko 709a is my go to for these smaller 18650 cells. It does.1mm.15mm nickel strips which is enough for these but wouldn’t be trusted with a larger battery pack.
