the CT800 is rated commercial tho, deck shouldnt be the issue on that one

ok thats what i thought. Mine is giving me intermittent HR readings, stop reset doesnt help with that obviously but figured id ask

HR grip issues are 100% always the cable or the contact. Clean the HR grips with alcohol and inspect the cable run up the upright of the treadmill.

yep this. Also make sure the little connector behind the console isnt the issue, that one walks loose over time.
i had a spirit where the HR cable got pinched in the console where the mount screw was. Took me hours to find that.
genuine question, why does holding the stop reset the console instead of having a dedicated reset button? is it because of some firmware thing or is the stop button wired differently on the pcb?

Firmware shortcut. The stop button is just a momentary switch on the matrix. The MCU detects a long press on the stop button and initiates the soft reset routine of the console. Much cheaper to program than purchase a reset button.
