What do the Ninja Blast light colors actually mean while charging?

Finally saw a few people ask about the charging indicator so figured this was worth a discussion. The manual gets buried but the indicators are pretty simple. Essentially if the Ninja Blast show blinking yellow or red then the battery is low and require charging. When you plug it into a usb-c port the light will change to blinking green indicating it is charging. It will take approximately 2-3 hours to fully charge to solid green indicating it is ready to use. Most blender charger use blinking green for charging so this is somewhat expected however it might be somewhat confusing to new owner of the product.
Anyone here have experience with waiting until solid green before unplugging or just yanking it after an hour? Does anyone notice that yellow and red seem to mean different battery level or are they just indicating a low battery?

Blinking green meaning charging is honestley bad UX. Every other small appliance I own uses solid amber or red for charging and green for done. Ninja went out of they way to be different here and it confuses everyone.
 
does anyone know if it pulls full speed charge off any usb-c brick or does it need pd? i tried a cheap 5w wall wart and it took foreverrr
 
mine has only ever shown red when low, never seen yellow. Wonder if yellow is like under 30% and red is critical or something

Mine showed yellow once and red another time when low on the same charge cycle. I think yellow is for lower battery levels vs red meaning its about to die. Not 100% sure though.
 
Overnight charging on a lithium pack is how you kill the cells in 18 months. The Blast has a BMS though so it should cut off at 100% charge.

wait does the blast actually trickle charge when its on solid green? i assumed it would cut off when it reached solid green.

It will cut off the indication but the battery cells will see the last few pulses to reach 100%. This is the same for most of these cheap battery designs though.
 
ngl I didnt see the yellow light on mine. Only see red blinking when low on battery. Mine is from 2023 though.
 
the difference between yellow and red has bugged me for some time now. I emailed ninja and got a copy and paste reply that didnt answer the question. Support is literally useless.

Yellow only appeared once while blending frozen stuff for longer than recommended. Red while on the device when the battery is about to die during blend. So its just my experience with the device, its been a while since I saw yellow but I know its for warning instead of critical like red. Manual does not say this.

interesting, so yellow is based on load of device perhaps instead of battery charge level?
 
its fine to unplug early, lithium batteries prefer 20-80% use. The people that wait until solid green to unplug are slowly killing their battery faster than the yank gang lol

This is actually correct and not enough people know it. Charging to 100% every cycle actually does more damage to the battery than partial charges.
