Basmati in an Aroma cooker, anyone else just use the White Rice setting?

Rinse rice 4-5 times to remove starch then soak for 20 mins. Drain and add rice and water in 1:1.5 in aroma on white rice setting. This will cook fluffy separate basmati every time.

pre-hydration. It allows rice to expand during cooking. Basmati grains is unusually long.

i never soak my basmati and its always comes out fine. Just rinse rice and that’s it. No soaking required.
I’ve used my aroma rice cooker for 5 years for my basmati. I use 1:1.75 ratio, rinse three times, no soak. I’ve never had rice that was bad. The 1:2 ratio recommended in the manual is for American long grain rice. No need to make a separate note in the manual for rice varieties because most people don’t care.
reading thru this thread and half of you are arguing about ratios without specifying if you are using the cup that came with the rice cooker or an actual measuring cup. The aroma cup is 3/4 of a cup. This is where alot of the confusion comes from

This is the real answer right here. When aroma makes it 1:2 that is with their measuring cup for rice and water. If you use a standard cup for rice and double it with the same cup you’ll get 1:1.5. People who follow the recipe as written will get the bestest results.

oh damn, that explains why my rice was out of whack when i used a different cup
