What does the blinking white light on the Ember mug actually mean?

Quick question for anyone who's spent time with an Ember mug. A few people has asked about the behavior of the white LED on the mugs so figured I'd start a thread about it since the information are found in various places but not readily available.
Essentially, when the mug is blinking the white LED it mean its heating up to the temperature you've set in the app. Once it reach that desired temperature the LED will be solid white. So essentially blinking means heating, solid means at temp.
This often confuse people because they think blinking means it's encountering an issue, it doesnt though. Solid white means at temp, blinking white means heating.
Anyone else know of any other LED indications? Is it true that the solid white will eventually time out when the coffee cools and it start blinking again? I'd be interested in knowing more about this.

yeah blinking = heating, solid = at temp. You basically nail it. Mine also goes back to blinking once the liquid drop below the target temp and starts heating again to return to that desired temp.

Same cycle with mine. When I put in fresh coffee it blink for a couple minutes then goes to solid. After ~20 minutes when it starts heating from the coaster it blink again.

You're correct about the white light but there's one nuance to this. When the mug is off the coaster and on battery the white will blink briefly when first turning on the mug, then go to solid for a short time before turning off entirely. On the coaster it will be solid white until temp is reached and maintained. So the solid white not timing out isnt really a thing on the coaster but is on the mug when off the coaster and on battery.

oh interesting so the led turns off on battery? does it affect the mug's ability to maintain temperature?

It doesnt. The mug will maintain its temp regardless but the white light shut off to save battery. The mug will heat until the battery runs down to ~80 minutes of heat at set temp.

Yeah, i've seen close to 80 minutes for battery life but sometimes its closer to 90 if setting to ~130F instead of 140F
