While looking through an manual for the Magnifica, I noticed that its volume controls is more simplified than I expected. Thus, I thought I’d bring this up as some of the other users complains about the length of their brews yet do not know that they can adjust the volume of each types of coffee by each button.
All one has to do is to place a large cup under the spouts, press the button that they would like to set the volume for (espresso, long, etc.) until it start flashing and the coffee begins to come out of the machine. Once the cup reaches the desired amounts of coffee, press the button again to terminate the coffee pouring from the machine. That volume will be saved to that button from that point forward. It essentially learns the amount of coffee that you want out of the machine by pressing the button once and allow it to learn the setting.
I’m curious as to whether or not this hold true through power cycles and descaling the machine. Additionally, are each of the buttons for each type of coffee able to have its own setting? I would assume so, but it is not mentioned in the machine manual. It seems as if this type of function have been present on these machines for years yet nobody ever talks about it due to the fact that all brew with the default settings. Thus, my question is whether this setting hold true over time or whether it is necessary to reprogram the machine from time to time.

It just memorizes the volume when holding the button and stopping it from coming out of the machine? Does this same setting exist on the ECAM series of machines as well?
