Saw a few posts about resetting Panasonic fridge. The procedure seem to be quite simple, unplug from the wall, press any button on the fridge control panel to drain the residual voltage from the control board, then plug the fridge back into the wall outlet. It’s that simple.
Does the pressing of the button on the refrigerator control panel actualy do anything? Or is this just a way to make sure that the caps is discharged prior to plugging the fridge back in? I suppose if someone just repeatedly performed the unplug and replug steps, it would eventually work out due to the fact that eventually the control board would naturaly discharge (after a few minutes?) Does a person have to manually discharge the control board by press a button on the fridge’s control panel? Is this specific to Panasonic? Is this “folklore” being passed from refrigerator technician to refrigerator technician?
How long should a Panasonic fridge be left unplugged from the power outlet? The directions dont specify exactly how long the fridge should be unplugged. I would imagine that leaving it unplugged for at least 30 seconds would allow the control board to fully discharge. However, would 10 second or 30 second be enough for the newer models with the inverter technology to fully clear? Have any of you performed this process on a Panasonic refrigerator?
