I need suggestions for my American Water Heater that is 50gal and 10yr old + whether to replace it or repair it. This tank is struggling to provide us hot water for 2 consecutive baths. Maybe because of its oldiness?

Considering its age, should I replace it? I researched and it said that it would cost me about $300 for just a repair. Is it worth it or should I buy a new one that costs for about $1000 up to $1500.

Just want to ask your opinion about this, thanks for any help!

10 years is the average lifespan of conventional water heater tank. Yes, repairing is easy, but is it worth it? You should consider that there are chances of a compromised tank when you repair it, leaks are one of it, moist is another.

Keep in mind that safety is always top priority when it comes to household items. I would rather replace it than repair it, for this would be buying me peace of mind in the future.

My heater needs to be replaced before it causes much disaster affecting my family. I will now consider replacing it, over anything.

Smh. 10yrs isn’t the max lifespan of a water tank. Proper maintenance will make tanks last much longer. If its just a simple leak, then repairing it would be sufficient if your tank is well maintained.
