Need ideas for floor cooling

Need solid ideas on what floor cooling should I install in my home, ideas that are realistic and budget-friendly. Me and my wife decided to remodel our home since last year, the last remodel that we did was installing underfloor heating for winter, so it might be rational that we also prepare for the summer – floor cooling.

Now, we would like to have some advice from you guys. I would like some ideas that would make the cooling throughout the house efficient. Just imagining about the idea that we wouldn’t be needing any noisy fans or bulky ducks gives us a sigh of relief – what more for the long-term, right?? 😁

Been reading on the internet recently and found out some relying issues about condensation in more humid settings. The climate in my area is a bit more humid compare to other areas, that’s why I’m having my doubts about this floor cooling. What you guys think? How’d you avoid these types of problems? Is there really a problem? How about the installation? Is the investment worth it?

Insulation is the key, when talking about floor cooling. Although condensation might be a pain in the ass, a decent humidifier can solve this issue.

I can say that it can work well especially in Europe, where I have been, I guess it is because of their specific climate. Don’t worry much on the moisture control, worry about the climate you’re having.

For me, I suggest you stick with the traditional system. The real problem here is handling condensation, that even great humidifiers can’t handle properly. If you’re really unsure, stick with traditional, just to be safe.

I can say that I love floor cooling and all its good properties! Maybe I can say this because we live in a relatively dry area, that’s why condensation is not a big of a deal. I love how the cooling makes the house naturally cool, not like the AC which blasts cold air.

No fans and ducts clanging ang banging are the best part of this system. The only downside of this is if you’re in a really humid area, you’ll need to invest in a decent humidifier before installing it.

Its pros are good overall conditioning unlike the AC, quiet and peaceful unlike the traditional, and you can really feel the difference in comfort compared to the traditional system.

However, its cons are pretty heavy for me personally. The biggest issue is condensation especially here in our humid area. Even though we have a good dehumidifier which is also running together with the floor cooling, not much of an issue, but something to be mindful.

Personally, I would suggest that you focus more on the people who will install your floor cooling. Focus on the design, its specification, and their input in your specific home area and climate there.

Can you give me some idea on your humidifier? How big is it and how often do you run it on summer times?

My take is to also consider the compatibility of your underfloor heating to the one that you’ll choose as floor cooling.

Oooh… floor cooling… Just thinking of it reminds me of all the maintenance involved and the struggle to keep up with it in humid areas 😩

I can vouch for floor cooling because I have worked in HVAC for almost all of my life. Great for dry climates – subtle cooling, a real definition of comfort, and quietly peaceful. Plus, very efficient when it comes to energy.

But as a long-time HVAC worker, the cons are pretty big especially in humid climates. Always be mindful of the dehumidifier you’re having. Also, think of the flooring you’re having – there’s always the best floor for your place (when handling moist).

And, I almost forgot, always talk to someone who knows a lot about these kinds of stuff – like pros, seasoned installers, and reputable companies.
