Is asbestos dangerous? We are accidentally exposed.

We hired a flooring company to remove our old carpet and sublfloor, install LVP and brand new baseboards for our basement. And then they discover that there are molds in a corner which stopped the whole project.

After this, we are left with what it seems to be like asbestos tiles and some of them are cracked. A contractor confirmed to us that they are indeed asbestos tiles. Now, everytime we walked past our basement to go to the laundry area, we are getting afraid to inhale some of the asbestos tile that is scattered all over the place.

I’m concerned about our health especially our lungs, and my kids. Is there any way to know if there are fibers floating around us? Could we be at risk?

You will need to grind it or snort it just to have effects on you. This is not Ebola, there are people who are abusing it because of its incautious usage.

The ones who will be affected are the people who lived with asbestos daily, making them breath it every single day. Don’t worry, cracking some few tiles would not affect you and your family.

Even a tiny bit of particle can stick in your lungs or your whole respiratory system. Minor exposure can also harm you if you’re unfortunate

That’s bothersome ☹the idea that a tiny bit of exposure can lead to serious events makes me fear it even more. How can we get air testing or some precautionary measures?

We experienced this ourselves first hand. A professional advised that the tiles should be sealed and encapsulated then install new floors over them. He said that this would minimize the risk of possible fiber release. Try hiring a professional.

I somewhere came across an article about your exact situation, turns out they had to hire a professional to remove some of the cracked tiles and replace them with new ones. Hiring a pro might be your best option.
