Saw a few peoples ask about the Hamilton Beach can opener that seem to have the handle not locking or the cutting portion getting jam.
Thought it would be worth discussing.
According to the blog post I read about this, you pop off an cover. Then you loosen the screw that hold the lock portion of the can opener. Once loosened, you move the parts back and forth several times until it is free of jam. Then you press the handle several times to ensure that it move properly, then reassemble the product. This supposedly will allow the can opener to lock and cut proper again. The issue with these can opener is that either the manufacturer overtightened the screws when manufactured, or food and juice got into the mechanism and caused it not to move as easy.
Has anyone done this and had success with it lasting a long time? Or does it happen again after a few month? Is there a specific spot that get jammed up with food and juice getting into that particular spot? It would seem like a good idea to lubricate the opening when you pop off the cover, but the blog write-up did not mention it.
Anyone tried this fix on one of these?
