Ember mug charging light colors, what does each one actually mean?

When someone asked me the other day about the charging behavior of an Ember mug, I thought I'd share some of what I've read on the topic of the indicator light on the bases of Ember mug.
When you place the mug on the charging coaster and plug in the adapter, the LED will blink red while the mug is charging. This blinking red light indicates that the mug is in the charging process, while green indicates that it is charge. The mugs take around 2 hours to charge to 100% of there battery life. So blinking red while on the charging pad indicates that it is current charging, while solid green indicates that it is charged and ready for be used.

The coil alignment on the mugs are quite picky. If you do not place the mug in the center on the coaster, the mug will not start to charge.

Mine will drop back to blinking red light while charging once on the coaster overnight, then will become solid green when fully charged.

why would anyone pay $130 for a mug that requires a charging pad? the microwave exists

The blinking red light when charging confused me when I first recieved my mug. I thought that it indicated a problem with the mug, just like most of my other electronics. Eventually I received the replacement mug and saw that the same blinking red light was indicating that it was charging. I finally figured out that it was normal and not a problem after I read the manual. I felt silly to have thought that the mug was defective at first but it is the way they chose to make it rather than use green for charging like most other products would use.

it pulses red slowly, almost like breathing. Blinking would be the fault state

the charging coaster can get gunked up with coffee residue after a while. Wipe the mug and the coaster with a damp cloth and the mug will likely start to charge again

2 hours is generous for charging the mug from 0% to 100%. Mine takes closer to 2.5 hours. Also, the battery holds barely enough heat for 80 minutes of use before it run out of heat.
