is element x on android just not playing nice with delegated homeservers right now?

pretty basic setup tbh. server sits on matrix.yourdomain, the base domain serves both .well-known files (server and client). tap sign in manually, type the base domain, and this pops up straight away. one person on a pixel with grapheneos and another on a xiaomi running android 16 both get it, server side is continuwuity

An error occured: client registration failed: Other error: server returned an empty error response

Turned out to be server side. Whoever filed the Element X bug found that turning off Continuwuity's oauth compatibility mode fixes it, then closed the issue themselves:

Code:
[global.oauth]
compatibility_mode = "disabled"
