Hello! I’ve been watching some videos of spray foam DIY and they seem to be pretty easy to do. I know that I’m just a beginner that is why I need some advice about renovation, particularly insulation.

Can someone tell me if this can be done by DIYing? Is there any special tools that I need to buy? If yes, is it expensive?

If you’re really tight in budget, I suggest to calculate your total cost in DIYing the foam insulation compared to hiring a professional. From my experience, you can totally do it yourself due to the easy to use handy spray paint like cannisters.

I just want to add to what Distinct Dugon said, please don’t forget the cost or safety equipment such as gas mask, foot and hand protection, and overalls. You cant just DIY these safety equipment because of the toxicity of these foam insulators.

your problem really depends on the size of your desired foam insulation application. if the size is too big, it is practical for you to hire some company to do the job.

Yes – you can DIY is basically. But if you want to get your moneys worth, you should try blown-in cellulose and also don’t forget about batt insulation for some areas. These two methods will surely insulate your place for a cheaper cost.

Spray foams are usually best for tight areas. It is often used for gaps and tight edges that can’t be reached. Just don’t use them in when you’re planning to insulate your whole house lol. :sneaky:

Spray foam is not that good. FYI, there are cases where roofs had to be removed because of improper application. It needs to be mixed correctly and cure properly. Don’t be naive and think about the consequences.

Dude, it is more costly to spray foam a whole house than to hire some pros that can do it seamlessly. But if you’re doing just a little bit, it is really great, and it can handle it all alone.
