De'Longhi throwing bean empty error with a full hopper, grind too fine?

Mine finally got the error after I descaled the machine with the wrong solution. Once I coarsened the grinder setting by two notches it cleared up. So the error can be caused by other maintenance related issue in addition to the grind setting.

wait what descaler did you use that caused the grinder to get gummed up?
 
To answer the question of whether the grind error happens over time with use of the machine. It seems to be both.
New machines tend to get this when someone plays with the grind setting to get the perfect shot right out of the box. However, older machines can develop this due to wear and tear on the burrs, as well as oil build up in the grinder.
The middle period of the machine’s life is the quietest period. By 6 months in ownership the burrs typically have evened out. However, 3+ years in is the next danger zone.
 
the dinamica plus is the worst in regards to having issues with the grind error. Its geared differently and tends to complain much more than the magnifica series. Anyone else see this with their models?
