De'Longhi throwing bean empty error with a full hopper, grind too fine?

Saw this pop up a few times. A lot of peoples seem to get the solid ground container with a flashing triangle even with beans in the machine.
First thought is bean sensor or is the machine properly seated in the beans? However most posts indicate its the grind setting that is too finely for the machine.
If the burrs are too fine the machine cannot push the grounds through fast enough to register that there is beans in the machine. Coarsening the grind setting will generaly fixes the problem.
Does anyone find that this occur over time with use of the machine? Or is this typically when someone first gets the machine and starts playing with the grind setting?

Magnifica S here, did exactly this last month. Was trying to get a finer shot but went past one notch. After 3 cups I got the error. Backed off 2 notches and it’s been fine since.

the flow theory make sense but doesn’t De’longhi put an optical sensor in the hopper to detect if there’s beans in there? Or is this only on the higher end model?

its almost always grind too fine on the eletta and dinamica line. Ive seen it dozen of times in the shop

Drift is real. Mine is 3 years in. Burrs are worn down and oils has built up in the grinder.

does cleaning the burrs reset some of that drift? Or are they permanently worn at that point?

Cleaning helps more than people think. Every 6 month I pull the machine apart and clean the burrs. After a deep clean I can go a notch finer again without getting the error. Dead burrs don’t helps.

Finally had this issue. Did 2 hours of research and forum digging before someone on another forum told me to turn the grind to fix it. Felt like an idiot. The manual never mention this so the error icon showing an empty bean container with no hint about the grinder having anything to do with it.

its not the grind its the chute getting clogged with fines. Coarsen the grind and the clog clears, thats why its works. People say its a flow issue but its mechanical
