A few threads has come up about Cuisinart ice cream makers not freezing the mix but the issue come down to three possible causes. Saw this discussion start about this so thought I’d bring it up since its something people tend to encounter when first trying out the machines.
One cause is that the bowl wasn't properly frozen before adding an ice cream mix. If the bowl makes any liquid noises when shaken, it's not yet frozen enough. It should be frozen to around -18C for at least 12 hours.
The other two issues are related. If the freezer is set to a too-warm temperature, the bowl will sit at too-warm temperatures regardless of how long it is left in the appliance. The freezer should be set to the coldest temperature possible. Finally, the most common issue that I see (though you’d think people would read the manual): the user places the freezer bowl into the fridge compartment instead of the freezer. The bowl will not freeze in the fridge.
Ngl, most posts about ice cream makers being “broken” due to these three issue are due to one of these three problems.
