Quick one for anyone who runs a Delonghi Magnifica day to day. There seem to be a few different way to get a longer cup out of these machines.
The first is by hit the Coffee button. The second is using the Long button to push more water through the grounds to make a bigger cup. The third option is making an espresso shot and top it up with hot water from the machines wand, essentially making an americano.
Which method do people prefers?

americano route every time. The long button absolutely murders the puck on mine, you can taste the bitterness like burnt cardboard. Pull a double, add hot water, done.

Honestly it comes down to grind setting more than which button you press. If your grind is too fine the Long button will taste awful as it force 200ml of water through an over-restricted puck. Coarsen your grind and the Long button will be fine.

burnt cardboard isnt an exaggeration btw, I let my brother use mine on the long setting with my normal grind and the whole kitchen smell like ash
