Anyone got a clean breakdown of the Makita 18V battery pinout?

Pin to ground in most cases. Tool applies voltage and reads the resistance of the divider to determine the pack class. Different resistances means different classes of batteries. Same approach used by most OEM battery brands.

ok so from what i gather, TH is mandatory, C1 is for balance while charging, then the +/- power pins and the 7 ID pins which are mostly resistor coded to each battery class. Did i get that right?

yeah that’s about it. Some tools may have specific requirements for the ID pins but mostly as above

the real answer is just to probe each of the pins on a known good battery to see which ones have power. Takes 10 minutes to get this info vs. Anyone asking in a forum
