Spirit CT800 reset, is it really just the Stop button hold?

Saw the CT800 in another thread and went digging around for the official procedure to reset it since I cant remember if it's different from the other Spirit consoles.
Press and hold the Stop button until the console display lights back up. That indicates the reset was successful.
Again, surprisingly simple for a commercial console brand known for complicated interfaces. This one's going to come up in a lot of threads with other Spirit models since people will mistake the reset for the safety key procedure, for example.
Does the hold of the Stop button clear things like the hour meter or service reminders? Apparently not according to the documentation. Does anyone know if there's a tech mode to the CT800 with service menus?

its basically a soft reboot. Doesnt clear the hour meter or service reminders, those live in nvram and the stop hold doesnt touch em.
 
Worked on a few CT800s at the gym I service. Hold the Speed and Incline arrows at start up and you get into tech mode where you can reset the hour meter and belt distance counter.
 
lol spirit consoles are such a mixed bag. Half the time the reset works half the time you gotta yank the safety key and pull power for 30 sec

ok that makes sense. So if the speed sensor on the machine is flaky and sets off an E2 error code, essentially the stop hold is useless until the sensor is fixed right?
 
the description youre referring to is from the spirit dealer service doc i think. It only covers the user reset for the console not the tech menu

correct. Address the root of the issue, not the symptom. The reset clears the latched display state.
 
I’ve got a CT800 on my floor for 6 years now. Used the stop hold maybe twice.
99% of the time when someone complains about the console acting up it’s because the reed switch on the flywheel needs adjusting or the rpm cable is loose on the lower board. Reset doesn’t fix mechanical issues but people want to try it out because its free. The service menu on these treadmills comes up based on the number of miles run and not based on specific hour intervals on the treadmill. The stop hold function will not clear the service menu. Source: I service like 40 of these treadmills across three facilities.

how do you get into the tech menu though? is it the same speed+incline trick someone mentioned in the forum or is there a button on the lower board?

Speed up + Incline up held during power on for about 5 seconds. A diagnostic screen will come up with hour count, belt distance, error log and a soft key to reset each one individually.

Not the same MCB. CT800 uses its own driver board although the connector pinout is the same. Different firmware handshake protocol. Don’t swap.

Good to know on the MCB, thanks for the information. It'll save me from doing something stupid on the next unit!

appreciate that, gonna have to try this out the next time im at the gym. One more thing, does the error log have timestamps on the faults it reports or is that just a count?

its just a count on the CT800. It will tell you the last 5 codes that happened on the treadmill and how many times each code came up.
