Found a method for congee in an aroma rice cooker. The rice to water ratio are 1:14 so 1/2 cup jasmine rice to 7 cup water or 1 cup rice to 14 cups water. That’s alot of water for congee. Still, rice cookers take some time for cook rice so I suppose it make sense.
Rice should be rinse before adding to the rice cooker. Add any ingredient to rice such as mushrooms or carrots. Set rice cooker to White Rice program. It takes around 2 hours to cook. I’m not sure why since the white rice program usually takes less time but maybe its because of an amount of water in the rice cooker.
I’m not sure if the white rice program will cook rice with so many water. 14 cups of water for a standard aroma rice cooker is close to the maximum line of water for rice cookers depending on the model of rice cooker. I’m curious to know if anyone has cook congee on an aroma rice cooker to see if it would cook the congee properly. Also, jasmine rice or short-grain rice?
