Magnifica brew settings compared, what's actually different between them?

found this video that shows off all 4 brew settings for the De’Longhi Magnifica, it’s just pouring each one next to each other so you can see the differences in each. There’s no explanation of what happens within teh machine between settings though.
The espresso and 2x espresso is as you’d expect. The coffee setting brew for longer, and the long coffee are the most diluted of the 4 settings. I’m not sure if the grind dose change or if the volume of water changes. I always thought it was just the volume of water with the same coffee puck in the machine but a few others commented that it does change the dose of ground up coffee bean with each setting.
The pressure curve for each setting is the same but the long coffee setting will drop the pressure to allow the remaining water to pass through the coffee puck. The manual for the Magnifica is very vague as to what each button on the machine will do. People have mostly guessed at the settings using there taste so far.

on the older Magnifica S the dose absolutely changes between espresso and 2x, you can hear the grinder runs longer for the double. The long coffee setting just dump more water through the same puck though, no extra grind.
pressure stays the same the pump doesnt have a variable control its just on/off.

Pulled one apart last year for a friend whose brew unit got seized in the unit. The dose can be set via grinder run time, or there are several presets for buttons on the machine. You can also adjust the strength setting in the menu (hold coffee strength button or whatever, depends on model year). Espresso and coffee use same puck size, just for longer grinding times with the stronger settings. The 2x button just runs the cycle twice with two separate pucks, not one giant double shot. Pressure is the same on all settings, it is a Ulka vibe pump that runs wide open. Only two variables for brew: water volume and dose. Therefore the long setting is just overextracted espresso dilute with the water volume.

wait so the 2x espresso is actually two separate pull back to back? that's kinda lame i always thought it was a real double
