Me and my friend are a welder and a machinist respectively.

We are setting up a small fabrication shop in his garage, and were hoping that you could give us some advice on what projects or parts we could easily offer to our customers.

The machines we got are a lathe, welding machine, drill press, oxyacetylene torch, and other tools.

If I were you, I would contact the nearest metal service centers or even distributors and give them business cards or even advertise my expertise for fabrication using machines. Several people are in need of your skills in your area, especially custom metal items. Your machinery and welding skills are in great need.

Be busy, buddy. Explore projects in your area when you don’t have one. Use your passion and commitment to grab some clients, maybe advertise your services, and don’t waste time thinking – just do it.

connect with the people in manufacturing plants, these people often need custom design material and they are always in need of this. if you manage to deal with them, you’ll have plenty of projects

Start with your inner circle, meaning your friends and families. If you are not yet confident with your skills as a machinist, at least try them on your relatives first. lol

consider repair services, this service can be a great source of income due to its demand.

Always consider the things you actually enjoy. When you are making something that you don’t have interest in, it will start to feel like a chore. You should always prioritize your hapiness over anything. Also, is there any big company that produces cheaper goods, making it tough for you to compete?
