Honestly it comes down to grind setting more than which button you press. If your grind is too fine the Long button will taste awful as it force 200ml of water through an over-restricted puck. Coarsen your grind and the Long button will be fine.

nordictrack incline motors are garbage anyway, the whole ifit ecosystem is designed to make you replace the machine every 5 years. Dont waste your money repairing them buy a sole and be done

fwiw, NordicTrack support told me over the phone to use some lithium grease specifically. Take that for what its worth since they also told me to factory reset the console for the same issue.

i had an m12 pack that would not charge, found that the lead from the thermistor had broken where it meets the PCB. Resoldered it and it came back to life. Proves that there's something you can check on these.

yep 12v bench supply right to the motor leads. If it spins smooth and doesnt pull more than like 0.5A youre fine, fan is good. If it stutters or pulls a full amp youve got a bad motor.

It turned out to be the incline motor itself dying. Replaced it about 6 months ago and the “ding” sound is gone. I’d suggest checking those things out before replacing the motor though.

9 times out of 10 its the connector behind the console. They use these little white JST style plug and the pins back out from vibration. Pop the console off, reseat everything, done.

Wow, I admire that you stick with hand tools! My suggestion is to check your chipbreaker setup and blade depth – don’t make it too deep or too shallow. Last advice is to check the sole if it is levelled properly – especially if you have cheap planes, they’re sometime uneven even brand-new ones.
