What’s up with metal accessories risks?

Guys, I know that wearing any accessories (watches, rings, necklaces, etc) is not good in workshops and even while doing tasks. I just don’t get why do some people have strong opinions on this matter – is being careful not enough? Don’t get me wrong, I also get the risk involving live circuits and stuff, of getting stuck or hanged in a tool or wood or metal and stuff.

What you guys think? Do you have some stories or experiences you can share with me? I’m just curious about your experiences and I wanted some advice from seasoned vets with this one.

After watching my co-worker got burnt coz of their accessories, I never worn mine again. If you feel like you have to wore something, just go get some silicone, it wouldn’t be that of a risky accessory compared to metal ones.

Great advice! Actually, I’m using silicone now coz my wife got me one as her gift. Feels like I’m wearing none, easy to replace, and dirty ass cheap!

Any metal accessories in workplaces are risky such as metal belts, keychains, earrings, and whatnot. Might as well put them inside your pocket before working, or just leave them in the house.

Remember guys, this isn’t about your cautiousness in the workplace – it is about minimizing the risk! Accidents happen all the time, might as well reduce the risk than to increase it!

I once had a coworker who always wore his necklace in the workplace. One day, his accessory hit a terminal and he had a bad shock. Luckily, it was not a life-threatening accident, and he never wore any accessory since his last day in the company. There is a right place and time where you should wear one – the workplace isn’t one.
