Need some bathroom lighting ideas for my small bathroom setup. I’m leaning towards light that feels bright but not too harsh, do you have any ideas and suggestions? What do you think about overhead lights? Maybe scones? I need some suggestions thanks!

A combination of walls cones and overhead lighting will do the trick. Overheads usually give you great light, together with walls cones, it will surely give your bathroom a beautiful design. Wall scones can be installed near the mirror, for task lighting and stuff. Choose lights that are warm to give it a sophisticated and inviting look.

A great overhead is LED recessed light. Simple and elegant, plus, its lights are also adjustable depending on the mood you wanted to have. It can be as warm or dim as possible; it can also be bright as the sun

Recessed lights are mid for me, doesn’t give any personality or cool vibe. If you want something that can add charm and elegant look for your space, go for a stylish pendant light. It will surely boost the high-quality look of your small bathroom.

Consider CRI (Color Rendering Index) of 90 and above. This way, your shaving or makeup experience will show you a more accurate color experience. Go with high-quality lights with 90 CRI and above, low CRIs usually gives a bland color lighting.

I’m with you on this. Experienced installing a cheap light in my first bathroom and was very regretful of it. Bland, dull, and ugly color, too frustrating when matching colors or even for seeing things clearly. Even though high CRI lights costs more, they are truly worth it compared to cheap ones.

I’m interested on pendant lights, I just worry that it’ll hang too low and cause a disturbing effect. Are there any compact alternatives that still looks modern?

Yes, they have! Check out mini or flush-mount pendants – smaller, closer to the ceiling, and still gives a contemporary look.

Ambient lighting is a must have. Just add some light strip behind mirrors and under your vanity – subtle, yet, it boosts the depth and modern look of the room. Also works great as a night light or dim.

Loved this feature, an awesome addition to our bathroom. I did install a motion-activated LED strips under the vanity – turns on when I am walking in the room and turns off when I leave. No more evening blinding with the overhead light lol!

Great addition! How was the installation? Can a newbie install it easily? 😁

Tbh? The only hard part is deciding where to stick them hahahaha. If you wanted to hide wires, just use a cord cover for them. It’s easy to work with, with great result.

Scones can be a pretty good addition, especially those who had adjustable arms, directing to places where you need it. Great and handy for skincare and tweezing something.

One thing to think of is lighting temperature. Choose between 3000K up to 3500K for warmer setup. 4000K is too much, avoid this if you don’t want your bathroom to illuminate like heaven lol!! 😂

Thanks for this, bro! 3000K range for a cozy feel, I’ll keep this in mind

4000K for me is doing great. I see things much clearer and it doesn’t feel like an hospital light for me. Maybe it depends on an individual’s preference and style.

If this room of yours has a large window that reflects natural light, maximize it by using frosted film or even just a sheer curtain. Free daylight is as cheap as you can get!

No windows, that’s why I prefer to have a creative lighting instead. My small bathroom is completely closed from its door.

With your situation, I suggest mirrors with built-in LEDs for sleek look yet still functional. It can brighten up your small cr and it is good for windowless setup.

Also consider the shadow that light creates by planning out your lighting setup accordingly. This step is pretty underrated and mostly unconsidered by people who install lights in any room. Overhead lighting can create dark shadows on your face when facing a mirror, this is the main reason why scones are installed – to remove shadows on your face or anything you wanted to light up with.

Adding to this, consider having a dimmer for your main lights. It’s a really game changing innovation with adjustable light for every mood – it can be a very relaxing feature you’ll love having on your bathroom.
