Why isn’t my dryer not working properly?

My dryer is not dry clothes as before. Yes, it gets hot, but my clothes are not getting dry as usual it took me multiple tries unlike before when it was new.

I tried cleaning the vent with the use of those drill powered brushes, I manage to get some damp lint clumps but it is still not working. ☹

I think that the lint trap does not do its thing anymore. Also, the inside of the dryer door is fogged and there are some pet hair and lint build up.

Can anyone help me with this problem? ☹

Check the airflow by disconnecting the vent pipe from the back, then run it empty. If there’s no air blowing, problem must be inside the dryer.

I think it’s an airflow issue because you said that you already cleaned the vent, there must be a clog somewhere else. Check exhaust pipe, it might be block, the one outside.

Same issue with mine. Mine’s issue was the vent pipe was clogged with lint, I cleaned it thoroughly, then it worked again, good as new. Just try checking it again.

Try checking the blower wheel inside the dryer. You said that you’ve clean the vent, right? Check the wheel for any damage or spinning motion, it is the one who moves the air efficiently in the machine.

This is a breakdown of what to do, unlike these other comments.

Step 1:

  • Clear the dryer.
  • Thoroughly clean the lint trap.
  • Disconnect vent hose from the back.
  • Run the dryer on: No heat or Delicate cycle.
Then, check for the air coming out by placing your hand over the dryer’s vent outlet. Take note of the power of the air that flows in your hand then move to step number 2.

Step 2:

  • Reconnect the vent hose.
  • Run the dryer on a no heat cycle.
  • Check the airflow at the outdoor vent opening.
The air should feel as strong as the air in step 1. If it didn’t feel as much stronger, you need to contact a technician to inspect and clean the entire dryer.

A drill powered brush can’t completely clean a dryer, unless it is very short and completely accessible – which dryers nowadays are not.

technicians use a compressed air nozzles on very long wands, and sometimes they have flails which to not only loosen the lint but to completely remove them.

use tools such as endoscope and borescope for checking blockages.
